G-Star Raw is a Dutch designer clothing company founded by Jos Van Tilburg in Amsterdam in 1989. This Dutch label is known for its raw denim and jeans. However, the question you have is, where is G-Star Raw made?
I had a few G-Star Raw jeans and t-shirts in the past, and I liked the style when I was younger. It may not be a brand for everyone, depending on your fashion sense and budget, since G-Star Raw jeans aren’t the cheapest on the market.

To confirm, I have decided to review hundreds of product descriptions on the G-Star Raw website to verify if the brand lists where the products are manufactured. I also visited two G-Star Raw stores and multi-brand stores selling G-Star Raw products, checking multiple items. So let’s find out where G-Star Raw products are made.
Where Is G-Star Raw Made?
G-Star Raw products are manufactured in China, Bangladesh, India, Turkey, Morocco, Vietnam, Tunisia, and Mauritius.
G-Star Raw doesn’t list where its products are manufactured on the product descriptions on its website. It’s not surprising since most of its products are manufactured in Asia. Brands like Hugo Boss, Gant, Ralph Lauren, Reiss, and Tommy Hilfiger adopt the same strategy.
However, G-Star Raw provides a list on its website (sustainability section) stating that the brand manufactures in 8 countries and has 25 suppliers. Furthermore, G Star says that 95% of the production volume of all its suppliers is included in the manufacturing map. This list is uploaded every six months.

The dutch label doesn’t state where the products are manufactured in the product description (and most consumers will not look for that information on any part of the website), but you can check the production volume per country here:
- Bangladesh (31%)
- China (20%)
- India (16%)
- Turkey (12%)
- Vietnam (8%)
- Tunisia (8%)
- Morocco (2%)
- Mauritius (1%)
When I checked G-Star items in-store, I found many products made in Bangladesh, China, and India. I have also seen them made in Turkey, Tunisia, and Morocco. The only two countries I did find were Vietnam and Mauritius.
If you purchase online, you can check the country of origin when you receive the goods. This is because the EU and US legislations require the brands to tell the country of origin for any imported products regarding physical goods.

It’s not a surprise why G-Star Raw doesn’t want you to know where its products are manufactured since most people consider that anything made in Asia countries is low quality, which is not always correct. At least the Dutch label provides a list of the countries where the items are manufactured. It’s not flawless (ideally, you would have that information in the product description), but I guess it’s a good start.
Is G-Star Raw Made In China?
Yes, China is the second biggest manufacturer of G-Star Raw clothing, footwear, and accessories.

The biggest surprise when finding out where G-Star is made was to know that China is not the biggest manufacturer of the brand. It’s actually the second biggest producer for the Dutch label.

Usually, brands prefer China since the labor and materials are much cheaper. Still, with the passing of the years, China is becoming more and more expensive, and alternatives like Vietnam, Bangladesh, and India are becoming more attractive to fashion brands.
That’s why fashion brands like Michael Kors, Burberry, Balenciaga, and Lululemon manufacture in China. They don’t spend much money here, and the profit will be higher than if the products were manufactured in Europe or the US.
Is G-Star Raw Made In Bangladesh?
Yes, many G-Star Raw products are manufactured in Bangladesh, including apparel, footwear, and accessories.

Almost every fashion label manufactures in Bangladesh, but this Asian country is not usually the biggest provider of clothes, footwear, or accessories. However, in recent years, we have seen more and more high-premium brands manufacturing here. In addition, sports brands have been manufacturing in Bangladesh for years.
Also, Bangladesh is an excellent country for mass-recycling and fast fashion manufacturing, attracting more brands to produce their products there.
Is G-Star Raw Made In India?
Yes, G-Star produces some of its apparel and accessories in India.
I am surprised that India is above Vietnam in the manufacturing list, but I shouldn’t be since many countries have been manufacturing jeans here, and G-Star is very well-known for its jeans.

Also, it’s very cost-efficient to manufacture in India since the labor and materials are cheap, so G-Star can improve its profits and charge slightly less for its products, making them more accessible to everyone.
