Quiksilver is an Australian sports brand founded in 1969 in Torquay, Australia, that manufactures apparel, footwear, and accessories. So the question you have at the moment is: where is Quiksilver made?

I have always been a bigger fan of Billabong than Quiksilver when I was a teenager, but I also had my odd Quiksilver t-shirt and swim shorts. So if you want that surfer look, Quiksilver is your brand.

To confirm, I have decided to review hundreds of product descriptions on the Quiksilver website to check if the brand lists where the products are made. I also visited some multi-brand stores that sell Quiksilver products (I couldn’t find any Quiksilver stores), checking multiple items. So let’s find out where Quiksilver is manufactured.

Where Is Quiksilver Made?

Quiksilver is manufactured in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Mauritius, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Morocco.

Quiksilver doesn’t list where its products are manufactured on the product descriptions on its website. It’s not really a big surprise since many sports brands do the same. Some examples are New Balance, Adidas, Nike, Under Armour, Converse, and Puma.

The reason why Quiksilver and some of the biggest sportiest labels on the planet don’t want you to know where they manufacture their products it’s that many consumers perceive items made in Asia as cheap and low quality. In addition, consumers don’t want to pay a lot for something they think is not worth it.

However, when you receive your Quiksilver item (if you purchased them online) or check them in-store, you can read where they are manufactured. The US legislation and EU rules require the brands to tell the country of origin for any imported products regarding physical goods.

In-store I have checked many different Quiksilver products and styles, and we don’t seem to have a country that manufactures more than the others. I would say I have found a bit more made-in-China labels than any others. Still, the Australian brand also manufactures a lot in Indonesia, Vietnam, and India since I found these labels on most Quiksilver goods.

Is Quiksilver Made In Australia?

As far as I know, Quiksilver is not manufactured in Australia, and I am not sure if they ever had. When the brand started, maybe some of its production (if not all) was in Australia, but I couldn’t find any information to confirm it. So I have my doubts about it, and let me tell you why.

When it comes to manufacturing, Australia would be a costly country to do it. Asian countries are cheaper in terms of labor, materials, and rent. That’s why it is not surprising to see Quiksilver manufacturing almost exclusively in the Asian continent.

Although I love to see fashion brands manufacturing in their country of origin, we have to understand that Quiksilver just filed for bankruptcy in 2015. Hence, the brand needs to cut all costs and maximize profits to ensure it doesn’t happen again. So manufacturing in Australia is not a viable option now or in the near future unless something changes how fashion brands fabricate their products.

Is Quiksilver Made In China?

Yes, Quiksilver manufactures some of its apparel, footwear, and accessories in China.

Is Quicksilver Made In China

I couldn’t find exactly where Quiksilver manufactures in China, and I believe that the Australian brand uses a few different independent production sites. This is the same strategy the biggest sports brands have adopted in China, but many of them have also shifted a lot of their production away from the country.

I don’t think Quiksilver has shifted any of its production away from China since the Australian label doesn’t heavily manufacture there and is not so dependent on it. If something happens in China, Quiksilver has other countries that can fulfill its orders.

Quiksilver was also one of the three companies that had its export privileges suspended in June 2022 after alleged illegal exporting to China. It seems that Quiksilver received technical drawings and blueprints from US customers and sent them to manufacturers in China, which according to the safety US department, they didn’t have authorization for.

I am not sure if this means Quiksilver will look for alternatives to China to ensure its export privileges are unbanned and for the fashion brand to improve its reputation with the US Commerce Department.

Common Questions About Where Is Quiksilver Made

These are the most common questions about where is Quiksilver made.

Where Is Quiksilver Clothing Made?

Quiksilver clothes are manufactured in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Mauritius, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Morocco.

Is Quiksilver An Ethical Brand?

So far, I would say that Quiksilver is an ethical brand. However, the Australian label doesn’t provide much information about its ethical conduct apart from what you can read here. I searched and didn’t find anything unethical about the brand.

Is Quiksilver A California Brand?

Quiksilver is an Australian brand, but its head office is situated in California. Many people associate this brand with California because that’s where you have surfers, and Quiksilver is a trendy choice among them.

Conclusion

Where is Quiksilver made? Mainly in Asia in many different countries, but also in Morocco in Africa, since this is not an expensive brand and for the Australian label to make a good profit from sales, they need to manufacture where it’s cheaper.

Quiksilver products have some quality and prestige among surfers, making it a very popular choice if that is your lifestyle, no matter in which country the Australian brand manufactures. The same goes for Billabong clothes that, at the moment, belong to the same company that possesses Quiksilver.
